Catherine Taylor

Catherine Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Writing Department at Ithaca College. She attended Oxford University, earned her B.A. from Cornell University, and received her Ph.D. in English from Duke University. She is the author of Apart (Ugly Duckling Pressse, 2012) a mixed-genre book about South Africa and Giving Birth: A Journey Into the World of Mothers and Midwives (Penguin Putnam). Taylor has worked as a producer, writer, and researcher on a number of PBS projects in New York City including "The Exiles" which won an Emmy Award for historical programming, and she was a Co-founder and Producer of The Human Rights Watch Film Festival. Taylor has had public readings at a number of venues including Brown University, the University of Iowa, the Art Institute of Chicago, Bard College and others. Her essays, poetry, and reviews have appeared in The Colorado Review, Witness, The Laurel Review, Hotel Amerika, Postmodern Culture, Quarter After Eight, and other literary journals.
