Essay Press was founded in 2006 by Eula Biss, Stephen Cope, and Catherine Taylor. An account of Essay’s early history can be found here.

maria Maria Anderson is from Montana. Her work has recently appeared or is forthcoming in the Iowa Review, the Missouri Review, Big Lucks, and the Atlas Review.
bwCristiana-04-1 Cristiana Baik‘s work has been published in Apogee JournalDrunken BoatBoston Review , and other publications. The Letter Machine Book of Interviews, which she co-assembled and co-edited with Andy Fitch, will be released in 2015. She works at the San Francisco Art Institute, where she manages institutional giving.
bwfitch copy copy Andy Fitch’s most recent books are Sixty Morning Talks, Sixty Morning Walks, Sixty Morning Wlaks and (with Amaranth Borsuk) As We Know. With Cristiana Baik, he recently has assembled the Letter Machine Book of Interviews. He has dialogic books forthcoming from 1913 Press and Nightboat Books. He edits Essay Press, teaches in the University of Wyoming’s MFA program, and directs the MA program in literature.
ellen Ellen Fogelman enjoys reading, writing, and eating chocolate. She works in development and makes her home in Chicago.
bwharrison Aimee Harrison‘s fiction and poetry have appeared in journals such as the Lifted BrowIndefinite Space, and The Inman Review. She is a co-founder of Small Po[r]tions Journal, and holds an MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics from the University of Washington, Bothell. She works for SUNY Press and lives in Albany, where she co-runs the series St. Rocco’s Readings for the Dispossessed/Falsely Accused.
bwryan Ryan Ikeda writes poetry and lives in Oakland, near where he studies Rhetoric at University of California, Berkeley.
bwCourtney-03-1 Courtney Mandryk is a writer and artist based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her poetry has recently appeared in journals such as the Adirondack Reviewbox of jars, and Epiphany. She is the founder of the magazine Root & Star.
Victoria-2 Victoria A. Sanz is a poet from Miami. She is currently an MFA candidate at New York University.
Sharp_Photo Travis A Sharp is a queer poet and book artist living in Buffalo. Travis’ poems and essays have appeared in Columbia Poetry Review, LIT, Puerto del Sol, Fact-Simile, Big Lucks, Entropy, and elsewhere. Travis is a co-founding editor of Small Po[r]tions Journal and Letter [r] Press, has an MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics from the University of Washington, Bothell, and is a PhD student in English and the Poetics Program at the University at Buffalo.
bwRyanSp-06-1 Ryan Spooner is the author of Regret. His essays have appeared in Ghost ProposalSouth Loop Review and CutBank, whose Big Fish Lyric Essay contest he won in 2011. He lives in Chicago, where he teaches writing and literature.
bwRyanSp-06-1 Alexandra Stanislaw is a writer and graphic designer in Chicago. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Devise Literary and an Assistant Editor for Hotel Amerika. Her work appears in Chicago Review of Books, Ragazine, and Crab Fat Magazine.

bwChristopher-01-1 Christopher Liek is a senior creative writing student at Susquehanna University.  He’s from York, Pennsylvania.  He writes both fiction and nonfiction and is currently working on a chapbook of mixed genre flash pieces.
Victoria-2 Emily Pifer writes nonfiction and does freelance creative work of all kinds. She’s currently an MFA candidate in nonfiction at the University of Wyoming.
